The competitions to find the best bodhrán players in the world are the centrepiece of the World Bodhrán Championships. Competitors from around the world have taken part and the response from those participants has been overwhelmingly positive.
In 2007, we introduced a new solo-playing category of competition in which players perform unnacompanied by any other instrument and it proved to be a great success.
Do you fancy your chances in trying to become the World Bodhrán Champion?
Do you want to win a slice of the €2,500 prize money on offer?

The entry form for 2009 is posted above. Last year, the organisers of the World Bodhrán Championships offered the Senior Champion €1,000 in prize money and a fabulous trophy designed by sculptor Liam Lavery. A total prize money package of €2,500 is offered for the four categories, Senior, Under-14, Under-18 and Solo.
A panel of renowned adjudicators is assembled for the championships and they look for the best style, rhythm and technique in the world. This year, we are delighted to have Mel Mercier of University College Cork, Sandra Joyce of the University of Limerick and Svend Kjeldsen from Denmark on hand to adjudicate.
A detailed set of regulations for those interested in the competitions can be downloaded below and if you think you have what it takes send your entry form (with a small administration fee) to our headquarters in Milltown.
